Hurt a bone mountain biking

I just got myself one of the coolest mountain bikes in the market by kona and don't know why got into major trouble. I spent pretty much all my savings on the bike and was really exicted to have it. But as if luck went againt me, I got into trouble while taking a mountain trial. I slipped off one of the rocks and landed on the floor leaning my hands.

My wrist got fractured in the process. I really never thought that it was a fracture. In-fact I was happy that I escaped such a fall with a minor wirst sprain. But I was in for a suprise as I got home. I could not sleep the whole night and the next day morning my left wrist got badly swollen. It was only at this point that I went to a doc. An x-ray revealed that I had developed fracture in one of my wirst bones. I really did not believe what the doc said and took a second opinion. Same thing there as well. The worst part was that both docs told me that the bone was really delicate and would take at-least a month or two to heal. Even after that, they advised me not to ride my bike for at-least a couple of months. This is something which I really did not expect. I feel sick as I look at my bike standing outside my home with noone to ride it. Why did this have to happen to me.

I mean, I have seen so many guys fall down while biking and get completely unhurt. I myself have fallen down quite a few times and escaped unhurt. I always wear safety gear. So why did this happen? Is my new bike jinxed? I really have 2nd thoughts about riding my new bike again. I just think I will sell it off and may be carry on with my old one save money and get another bike later. Sobs..

I hope your recovery goes well. I don't believe in jinxs, I just think you had real bad luck. I've seen people have horrendous falls on mountains and survive with nothing but a few brusies, and others have tripped on a path with fatal consequences.

A mate of mine fell 800' and walked to the nearest police station to hear his friends reporting his death! Around the same time an experienced climber died after tripping over his own feet on a path in Glen Coe.

When I've watched extreme mountain biking I've often thought how dangerous it looks, but then that is half the buzz isn't it!
