LINCOLN CITY RACE REPORT - URBAN ORIENTEERING
Just a very brief report on the Lincoln City Race that took place this morning. I've added some photos and the full results should be on www.logonline.org.uk later this evening.
I decided to run up out of my age class and enter the Men's Open Race, as Lincoln is my home town and I thought that local knowledge would compensate for being somewhat out of my depth fitness wise. The weather was thankfully overcast and not too hot, because the steep climbs up the hill to the cathedral quarter were really exhausting.
I'll add a fuller review of the race once the full results are out, but I know that it was won by Oli Johnson in 45 minutes, while I took 75. The course was supposedly 8.3kms with 130metres of climb, but that is the straight line measurement. After detours, to get round buildings, lakes, avoiding out of bounds etc it would have been well over 10km.
